Hello!<br>I am not the type of person to usually write on boards but I must confess that your thoughful and sincere words truly impacted me. I feel like your words were speaking out to me. I am a strong believer in God and I do agree that God sometimes puts obstacles in our path to test our faith. I recently took my USMLE and didnt exactly get what I wanted. I opt to believe God didnt give me the perfect score because he wants me to work harder to get to my goal. The harder you work for something the more you appreciate it. God has mercy and I know he wants the best for me. I have no doubt he will open new opportunities in the near future so I can myself match to a good residency program. Thank you for your words!

That depends on whether you are an IMG (international medical graduate) or an American graduate. Kaplan Notes are like the default choice for IMG's USMLE preparation for all subjects, except Pathology. If you have time & want to score really high in step 1, use Goljan Rapid review for Pathology. It will also make your step 2 preparation easier. And just before you take the test, go through "First Aid for step 1".Also, subscription to "USMLE World" would greatly enhance your final score.

good luck!

Actually, you need to give step 1 first. Only if you pass, you can proceed further. The other information you requested is on the official USMLE website (including what centers conduct these tests in your country).

Good Luck!

My usual answer is "the one you'll read", which is not meant to be flippant at all but rather just that you are the best judge of the way you study best. There's no point in buying lots of materials you won't use, so think about what you usually prefer.

There is tons of material out there and it all covers the same basic stuff. I did most of my prep with question books, which you can get cheaply (I bought mine used from eBay). I found that going through questions was the best way to review the material for me. Some people prefer to study the material first.

I saw no reason to pay for expensive online question banks, but they're very popular if you like that kind of thing. I also didn't take a course; they are nice if you have a lot of spare money lying around and useful if you really need guidance in sticking to a study schedule, but beyond that, certainly not necessary.

My personal favorite review texts are the "Step Up" series, but a lot of my classmates swore by First Aid. They're both quite comprehensive. No review text will teach you all the data, but they provide a very good overview of what you'll be expected to know.

Good luck with the exam! It's not as big a deal as they make it out to be, really.
